My grandmother was named Greta May Bearcroft - born in Guisborough in 1881. Her grandfather was William Bearcroft who came from Danby and who married Martha Coverdale also from Danby in 1848 in Danby. Martha was the daughter of Betsy Coverdale.
Williams mother was Jane Williamson who was born in Westerdale in 1790 and died there in June 1848. Jane was the daughter of John Williamson and Ann Garbutt, both born in Westerdale and married there in June 1790.
We appear to have many family members from Westerdale, Danby, Kirkby Moorside & Helmsley. I am visiting the area in May 2010 - flying from Sydney Australia on May 2nd and would be very interested to hear of any existing family members of any of these families.
I may be contacted by email on petergpq@tpg.com.au
Thank you - Peter Goodman

I never did receive any responses to this request 3 years ago. I have since visited Westerdale and Danby and have spent many hours trying to decipher the many Bearcroft and Coverdale names that I discovered. My father who was killed in the last month of the War in Germany was named Philip Coverdale Goodman in memory of his grandmothers ancestry. I am specifically trying to determine the children of John Bearcroft and Jane Williamson who were married in Westerdale by the Rev D Duck on 22nd August 1814. I believe that they had at least one son named William in December 1814 and maybe 3 other children in ensuing years. I understand that the Williamson family still lives in the region. If anyone has any further information I would be delighted to hear from them by direct email to petergpq@tpg.com.au - thank you in advance.
