The current problems are much like what happened in a similar wet snow storm in December 1990. That time it took 12 days to get everyone reconnected, so hopefully they do better this time! There are a lot of wires on the ground and Rosedale, Commondale and Goathland area (at least) have similar problems. This snippet from Northern Power Grid website is hardly inspiring. An interruption to electricity supplies affecting YO212** was reported to us on Wednesday, 04 April 2012 at 18:42.
The interruption to your supply is due to a fault on the electricity network supplying your area..
An engineer is currently travelling to the area.
We expect to have restored power to you by Friday, 06 April 2012 at 16:00

Unfortunately, we do not yet have a forecast of when your power will be restored. The customer service by phone is a joke, on Day One it helpfully advised they hope to restore supplies in three to six hours when anyone seeing the damage could guess it would be more like three to six days.

HI
If you are offered compensation from N Power please check the amount and time they calculate you were without power. My compensation was £81 for 48 hours after contacting the freephone number this was increased to £182.
